Put a photo on the big screen, including JPEG, PNG and HEIC. Images are prepared as stills; animated GIFs show their first frame.
Show a document and turn its pages from your phone. PDFs are prepared as images, so your TV does not need a PDF reader.
Preparation can take time. File support depends on the actual codecs and document content, not just the extension.
Your computer does the work
You install the local player once. After that, choose a file, choose your TV, and stay in control.

Start on your computer
The companion is a source download, not a one-click installer. You need Node.js 22.13 or newer on the computer serving your files.
Download companion sourceExtract the downloaded ZIP. Open a terminal in its project folder and run these commands. They install the media tools, connect to the hosted account service and start the local player.
npm ci
npm run cloud:connect -- --receiver-app-id 7B7F2CD8
npm startThe connection command saves public service configuration. You do not need Stripe keys, a Google Cloud project or your own Cast receiver registration.
On the computer running those commands, open:
http://localhost:3210Allow Node to access your local network. Keep the terminal running and the computer awake.
On a phone, use the QR code or network link under Use on phone. The localhost link opens the player only on the computer running it.
Open Plans & account → Connect account in the player. Sign in with Google and approve its code. Then choose a paid plan if you want one.
A few useful things
Your phone chooses files and controls the TV, but the local player must run on an awake computer on the same network. Keep the phone page open until an upload finishes. After casting starts, the computer continues serving your file if your phone locks or closes the page.
You need a Google Cast-enabled TV or a Chromecast on the same network as the computer. This player sends files through Google Cast. It does not provide AirPlay, Roku or general screen mirroring.
Turn on your TV, check that your devices share the same Wi-Fi, and allow local network access for Node on your computer. Press Refresh in the TV chooser. Guest Wi-Fi, router client isolation and firewalls can prevent discovery. In Settings → Connection, choose the right Wi-Fi or Ethernet address if you use a VPN.
Files selected on a phone are copied to the local computer for preparation. Your TV reads them from that computer; the account service does not store the media. Clearing or replacing the current file removes the player's imported and prepared copies. Your original file stays untouched.
Common containers include MP4, MKV and MOV, but damaged, encrypted or unusual media may not be supported. Video is prepared before playback, which can take time and disk space. Text subtitles and SRT, VTT, ASS and SSA sidecars can be selected; bitmap subtitles and preserved styling need video preparation. Try 720p if playback fails.
Images and PDFs are limited to 100 MiB, PDFs to 200 pages and decoded images to 40 million pixels. Use an unlocked copy of a password-protected PDF. Animated GIFs and multi-image collections show their first image. Complex or damaged documents may need a smaller or repaired copy.
Plus includes 25 minutes of accumulated playback or visible document time per session. Pauses and buffering do not count; seeking or turning pages does not reset the clock. Pro removes the limit and house promos after payment is confirmed. The existing media stays connected, and a policy-paused screening can continue from the same point.
