Your connection route
The protocol is what matters.
A smart TV brand or a casting button in a streaming app does not prove that your browser can send local files to it. This matrix compares the actual routes. It does not predict resolution or latency.
| Protocol | Source route | TV / receiver | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Cast | Desktop Chrome; Android Chrome or system Cast | A Google Cast-enabled TV or attached receiver | The browser and TV still need to discover each other. |
| AirPlay | iPhone/iPad Control Centre Screen Mirroring | Apple TV or a confirmed AirPlay-compatible TV | Keep Safari visible while the local player runs. |
| Miracast | Some Android phones or Windows hardware | A confirmed Miracast display | A separate system feature; not supported on Google Pixel. |
Before you press Cast.
- This is guidance, not a device scan. A supported route still requires discovery and playback testing on your actual devices. The checker cannot see your TV, Wi-Fi configuration or permissions.
- Use the same local network. Guest-network or access-point isolation can stop discovery. Different 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands can work when the router lets devices communicate; an identical band is not a universal requirement.
- No fixed quality promise. Resolution, audio delay and sustained playback depend on the source file, decoding, browser or system mirroring, receiver and Wi-Fi. “4K TV” does not guarantee a 4K mirrored picture.
- Use your own local files. This service prepares files on your device. It does not remove DRM from subscription streaming services or make their protected video mirrorable. The site itself still needs an internet connection.
