Step 1: Check the exact LG model
Look up the model number in the TV’s product information or on its label. Compare it with LG’s AirPlay support list and the manual for your region. LG lists selected series across several model years. Do not assume every television from a listed year includes the same feature.
A TV with Screen Share but no AirPlay does not acquire iPhone mirroring through this website. An attached Cast-only receiver is also insufficient. The compatibility checker helps distinguish the required protocol before you spend time troubleshooting discovery.
Step 2: Enable the LG AirPlay receiver
LG documents Input → Home Dashboard → AirPlay → AirPlay and HomeKit settings → AirPlay On. Your model’s dashboard name or menu layout may differ. Follow the television’s manual if this path does not match.
Put the iPhone and LG television on the same reachable home network. Guest networks and access-point isolation can block discovery. Devices can use different Wi-Fi bands when the router bridges them correctly; selecting the same band is a useful comparison, not a universal requirement. If a VPN filters local traffic, temporarily disconnect it while testing.
Step 3: Mirror Safari and start your file
- Open the player in Safari and choose one file. Preparation runs on the iPhone.
- Tap Screen mirroring when the selected file is ready.
- Open Control Centre → Screen Mirroring, choose the LG TV and enter its displayed code if asked.
- Return to Safari and tap Play on this iPhone.
Keep the phone unlocked and Safari in the foreground. A PDF uses page controls rather than movie seeking; an image is a still frame. Files stay local, while the website still needs the internet for its application and account services. See PDF casting or photo casting for preparation limits.
AirPlay, Screen Share and Google Cast compared
| TV feature | This workflow | Quality and hardware |
|---|---|---|
| Apple AirPlay | Use iPhone Control Centre Screen Mirroring | Model-dependent output and delay; no extra receiver if built in |
| LG Screen Share | Does not establish iPhone AirPlay support | Check the source device’s protocol |
| Google Cast | Not this website’s iPhone sender route | A separate feature on compatible targets |
The local player can prepare compatible video and render captions, but the final mirrored resolution, colour and audio timing are controlled by the devices. A 4K source file does not guarantee 4K HDR output. Avoid changing TV picture settings to solve a file-decoding error.
Troubleshooting a missing TV or black picture
If the television is absent, recheck its AirPlay toggle, model support and network. Update the phone and TV, then restart them if needed. A TV listed in another app can be using a different protocol, so that alone does not prove AirPlay is available.
If Safari’s player is also black, try a small compatible MP4 or photo before investigating the TV. Protected streaming apps can intentionally prevent mirrored video; this website does not bypass their restrictions. Add supported text captions through Subtitles rather than expecting LG’s broadcast caption menu to control the browser’s track.
Finish with Control Centre → Screen Mirroring → Stop Mirroring. For other displays, browse device guides, including Samsung TVs and Apple TV.
